Student Ministry at Hillcrest
Our Student ministry is lead by our Youth Pastor, Zack Langley. This ministry is very exciting with many opportunities for students to get involved. The student ministry ranges from 7-12th grade. Bro. Zack has a passion for this age group. He desires to see these students grow in Christ and grow in fellowship with one another. We desire to see these students grow out of the mindset of just being kids that attend the same church and grow into the mindset of loving one another and becoming a family of believers in Christ Jesus.
Along with the three weekly meeting times listed below, this ministry has monthly events ranging from afternoon swimming parties to week long camps and retreats. There is always some way to have fun and grow in Christ in our student ministry.
On Sunday Morning, the students participate in Sunday school with the rest of the church. The students are currently going through the Bible Studies for Life series and are taught by various volunteers including John Jeffries, Sherrie Jeffries, Mickey Jones, and Jenny Fox.
On Sunday Evenings, the students participate in small groups coordinated by Zack and led by various volunteers including Zack. This small group time is a chance for the students to get involved in discussion about the sermon from that morning. This time is used to promote sharing thoughts about particular topics with each other as well as growing as a youth family.
Wednesday Evenings are where our youth worship service, Collide Worship, takes place. The students participate in worship lead by a praise band and hear a message from Zack. The students regularly go through a series of sermons that are written with them in mind by Zack. This is an excellent opportunity for the students to not only worship together, but also grow in Christ. The purpose of Collide Worship is to promote the mindset found in Galatians 2:20, "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." We are called to join or "collide" our lives with Christ's and this is the focus and the purpose of this worship service.
